While this isn’t the most comprehensive list, here are some slangs and lingo to help you start navigating your crypto journey. Crypto communities, especially on social media platforms, will commonly use these terms, so it’s best to familiarise yourself with them to avoid confusion.

DD Due Diligence. Always make sure to do research and ensure who you're dealing with.

DYOR Do Your Own Research. An important form of self-education that encourages you searching out your own resources.

FOMO Fear of missing out

FUD Fear, uncertainty, doubt

GM/GN Good morning/Good night

HODL Hold On for Dear Life. Refers to a passive investment strategy in which people buy and hold onto cryptocurrency — instead of trading it — in the hopes that it increases in value.

LFG Commonly known as “Let’s F***ing Go”, but we’ll use it to mean “Let’s Follow God”! - Let’s change the narrative.

NGMI Not gonna make it.

P2P Peer to peer. The direct exchange of a crypto asset between two individuals.

Pump and Dump A form of fraud where innocent investors make purchases based on false information.

Rekt Another way of spelling ‘wrecked’. Being utterly destroyed or ruined.

Ser Used instead of ‘sir’ to respectfully address your peers.

Shill To covertly attempt to promote a crypto asset by creating buzz.

To the Moon Refers to a cryptocurrency skyrocketing.

WEN MOON Used to ask when a crypto asset will increase drastically in price.

Whale Individuals or entities that hold large amounts of currency, so much that they can change its valuation.
